A well point system works by installing a series of small-diameter perforated pipes (well points) into the ground around the excavation perimeter. These well points are connected to a header pipe, which is in turn connected to a self-priming centrifugal pump or a vacuum-assisted pump. The pump draws groundwater up through the well points, lowering the water table below the excavation level.
Well point dewatering is particularly effective in sandy soils, gravelly formations, and other permeable substrates — conditions very common across the UAE's coastal and desert geology.
